You walk down the candle aisle staring at a hundred jars basically screaming “Pick me. Please pick me. I have a copper lid.” You grab one called “Magical Mountain Mist,” inhale deeply and immediately wonder why it feels like you just exfoliated your nose from the inside. By candle number eight you’re spiritually defeated and crawling back to the same scent you’ve bought since 2014. DIY candles aren’t much better.

 

The internet tells you it’s a wholesome weekend craft. Lies. It’s candle bootcamp. It’s wax thermodynamics. It’s stirring like your life depends on it while praying the wax doesn’t explode like the food carts in those “My husband is making me watch this” action movie.

 

It’s the fishing analogy: you can pay twenty bucks for a piece of mahi or spend five grand, two coolers and a day of your life trying to catch one. All while your daughter’s flipping across a gym and your son is planning his NFL debut. Who has time to become a part-time candle chemist?

 

We’re Chelsea and Ryan, the duo behind Pyro Puzzle. One of us makes pretty pictures. The other builds things because he just does. We set out to create puzzle candles, and those are coming. But in the process we unlocked something accidentally genius: Smelly Sticks.
